Do not carry a suitcase for travel if you have not checked the list of things to note
Make a to-do list
Make a specific list to answer the questions: where will you be , do you need to change accommodation, what will you do at the destination… equally important as it gives you an overview of the trip.
Consider when to go
From November to March is the rainy season in Australia, while in Vietnam this season falls from July to October. Surely you will not want to spend a lot of money to travel and then end up just lying in a hotel watching rain.
Should backpack travel, or buy a tour ?
Each form of tourism will have its own interesting points and difficulties. If you are traveling on your own, you will have to prepare a lot but be free in terms of time and schedule. In contrast, traveling by tour saves you time in planning, but will not be very interesting for those who like to explore.
Ticket booking
Airlines usually issue flight tickets as early as 11 months in advance, and the earlier tickets are purchased, the cheaper they are. Flights closer to departure will cost more. So plan early, book hotels and air tickets wisely. You can save a decent amount of money.
Accommodation
The earlier you book your accommodation, the better rates and more options you will get, especially if the destination is crowded with tourists or in high season.
It is recommended that you download a map of the area and the places you plan to visit in advance
Stay healthy
Take good care of your health before traveling. Do not change your exercise routine, but keep your favorite activities such as walking, swimming, aerobic or cycling… However, do not overdo it to avoid injury or muscle fatigue.
Passports and visas
If you want to travel abroad, make sure your passport is valid for at least six months. Some countries even require a tourist visa. Visa processing can take several weeks to a month, depending on where you want to go and the consulate’s processing.
Apply for a visa as soon as possible because in addition to the time to prepare the application and wait for the results, you may also have to go to the consulate for an interview.
Medical problem
Do you have health problems? Have you prepared enough medicine? Different countries have different requirements and prices for health services. So you always have to prepare yourself in advance.
If you have a special illness, bring medical records or prescriptions in English for use abroad.
Travel insurance
Consider buying travel insurance as soon as possible, right after you buy your plane ticket, to protect yourself against some unforeseen natural disaster or contingencies.
Car rental and international driver’s license
The closer the car rental date, the higher the price. Car insurance is also quite expensive. However, if you buy insurance through an intermediary, you may have to pay a lower premium.
In addition, to drive a car abroad, you also need an international driver’s license. Make your safety a priority and learn about destination traffic before taking the wheel.
Store personal information
Make a few copies of your flight ticket, passport, visa and all necessary information, put it in your travel suitcase in case your luggage is lost, and send this information to yourself via email. and for your loved ones.
Buy a sim card
Buy a wifi transmitter or phone sim right at the airport, if you are not familiar with the language or the way you go to your destination. Some hotels have free wifi, but some are only available in the lobby or for a fee.
Preload destination map
If you are afraid of getting lost or do not know where to go, it is best to download a map of the area and the places you plan to visit in advance. You can also ask for a free map at the hotel.
Electrical safety
Please prepare enough machinery, technology equipment and chargers, especially a multi-purpose adapter for travel, because the power jacks in different countries are often not the same. If you go to a place with a different voltage than the one you are using, buy an additional transformer.
Preload some essential apps
Some essential apps for travelers include Google Maps, Weather Live, Google Translate, XE Currency Pro, CityMaps2Go. If you want to text or call for free, in addition to Facebook, you can download WhatsApp, Skype or Viber.
Bring your belongings on the plane
At health care stores, you can find convenient kit packages for long-haul flights.
This package includes earplugs, eye patch and collapsible neck pillow. When you get on the plane, you just need to blow in to make the pillow inflate. When not in use, you can deflate and fold the pillow back like a piece of cloth.
You should prepare this kit as some airlines only provide blankets but not eye patches or earplugs, even on long flights.
